Game Fair Fly Fishing Schools 2007
Discover the timeless sport of fly fishing in a fun and relaxed atmosphere at Game Fair's Fly Fishing School 2007! Middle Tennessee fly fishing guide and instructor Steve Sylvis has a unique way of teaching fundamentals to ensure you have the skills and confidence to get the most out of this rewarding past time.
After meeting at Game Fair the class moves streamside for lextures and hands on instruction. The majority of the morning will be spent covering the history of fly fishing equipment, knot tying, stream entomology, reading water, techniques, and how to use the right fly. We will then begin casting lessons. The classes will be limited to 6 so that everyone will get a chance at one on one casting instructions. The rest of the day will be trying out your new skills on Bream and Bass in the creek running through the casting grounds.

The cost of the one day school is $150 per person and includes:

Game Fair Beginning Fly Tying Classes
Game Fair has been designed comprehensive introduction to the art of fly tying. You will learn step by step how to tie some traditional classics as well as modern, proven fish catchers. You will learn in detail about the tools and materials of the trade, and be shown exactly how to use them. Flies selected for the course include nymphs, dry flies, streamers, midge patterns and bass bugs.

The main focus of the course is emphasis on good hands on techniques, fly proportions, and aesthetics.


* Before each pattern your instructor identifies the fly, its history and how it is fished.

* A brief study of aquatic entomology is included to help the student understand what they are imitating.
* Throughout each step of constructing the flies the instructor will make sure you are progressing properly before proceeding.
* Each and every fly is critiqued by the instructor.

Instruction is usually on three evenings, from 6:00 PM till 8:30 PM. Classes are generally scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but there is room for flexibilty. Inquire about availablity of the next class that is forming. Cost is $75.00 per student if they have their own tying tools. $125.00 per student includes instruction and a quality fly tying kit with tools and materials to tie hundreds of flies.

Game Fair's Beginning Fly Tying Class will give you the knowledge to design flies so you can experience the satisfaction of catching a fish on your own creation.
